Panama Limited Jug Band - Panama Limited Jug Band 1969

It's an early Harvest record and is quite sought after in record collector circles.

It's basically covers of traditional jug-band tunes originating from the American south. Here in a context that says white people from Britain 1969. The result is great. The arrangements are suprisingly true to the originals. The record has an unrivaled display of joy and 'fun' in the playing. It's lovely weird - mostly because of the female lead-singer who sings in a very odd and dramatic actress-like way. It's an acquired taste - but rewarding. Kazoo, banjo, guitar, mandolin, washboard, harmonica, jugs of allsorts in perfect unison. All acoustic of course. They were discovered by legend John Peel who also produced the record. Highly recommended.
