Hemlock - Hemlock 1973

British short-lived rock band active in 1972-73. The british guitarist and vocalist Miller Anderson (The Keef Hartley Band), after the release of his solo album "Bright City" in 1971, realized he still had enough material for a possible follow-up. In 1972 he returned to the studio to record a series of songs for a new album. The sessions involved the keyboardist Mick Weaver (The Keef Hartley Band), guitarist and keyboardist Peter Dines, drummer Eric Dillon (Fat Mattress) and also bassist Jim Leverton (Fat Mattress). However, as sessions were completed, Miller Anderson preferred to forming another band with the musicians he had used on his most recent recordings, rather than continuing under his own name, and the result was Hemlock (7), a group whose formation was announced in late 1972. Their sole effort finally appeared in the Autumn of 1973 and, musically, is a mix of blues, rock and folk elements, in the wake of early 70s Traffic and Free. Despite positive reviews and a tour in the US and UK, the album's sales were poor. Short afterwards the group split.
