Troyka - Troyka 1970

The late 1960s and early 1970s were a time when some mighty odd, uncommercial, half-baked records emerged on big labels. One of them was Troyka's little-heard, self-titled 1970 LP for Cotillion, which mixes raw blues-rock with strange mixtures of psychedelia and middle eastern tunes and tempos. It sounded a little like a low-rent Mothers of Invention, though it wasn't easy to tell if the musicians were entirely serious about their weirdness, or if this was something of a quickly thrown-together exploitation of the stranger aspects of the psychedelic underground.
