Matata was a Kenyan band that based itself in Britain in the early 1970s. Their third single, I Feel Funky, went to No. 3 in the Black Music chart. Borrowing from the JB's with tough brass, crisp funky bass and guitar riffs, sax solos and throaty vocals, the band earned a reputation as one the best funk outfits to come from outside the States.
