Diana Ross & The Supremes - Farewell (Live) 1970

Presented here in all its magic and splendor is the last recorded show of the super singing group, Diana Ross & the SupremesThe Supremes sing their greatest hits and a plethora of classic melodies in front of a live audience in Las Vegas during their Farewell tour, January 14, 1970. In their last performance at the Frontier Hotel, The Supremes sang with vibrancy and a unique and unmatched harmony that seemed to uplift and sweep the fans off their feet. Soulful and passionate tunes such as "Stop! In the Name of Love," "Come See About Me," "My World Is Empty Without You," and "Baby Love" are featured on the first side of this double-record collection, marking the pure delight and colorful charisma of the group's early career. Covers such as "Lady Is a Tramp" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" reflect the soulful times during the height of Motown's success. "Reflections," Ross' personal favorite, closes out the first set with fervent energy. The Supremes' enthusiasm is very identifiable on "Love Child" and the great hit sung by the 5th Dimension, "Aquarius." Many Rodgers & Hart tunes are featured in this exciting collection, and sung by The Supremeslike only they can, spinning the melodies with their unique trademark harmony and youthful vigor. "Falling in Love With Love" and "The Lady Is a Tramp" bring a sophisticated and jazzy '30s flavor to the gig. The group closes out this memorable performance with "Someday We'll Be Together," granting faith and some hope to those who hoped The Supremes would return in the near future. As is turned out, this was the last live performance of the legendary trio. Producer Deke Richards did a good job capturing the essence of The Supremes, their tight harmonies and self esteem, on record. This can be a perfect fit for anyone's record collection, especially fans of '60s Motown. AMG.
