The Chambers Brothers - Now 1966

Recorded in 1975 -- and featuring a vintage Wolfman Jack stage intro, one of the defining emblems of its time -- this live Chambers Brothers set is nothing more than a curio for die-hard fans. By this point in their career, the Chambers Brothers had already disbanded once, and this concert was recorded in support of 1975's weak comeback attempt Right Move, with a lineup that lacks guitarist Joe Chambers, whose psychedelic freakouts were at the heart of the group's biggest hit, "Time Has Come Today." The set list is comprised almost entirely of limp covers of R&B standards like "High Heel Sneakers" and "Mustang Sally," stretched out with Lester Chambers' extended harp solos and a lot of aimless vamping. Worst of all, this middling-at-best concert has been preserved with near-bootleg sound quality; the rhythm section musicians in particular sound as if they were playing in a different club next door.
